Rabbinical Endorsements about the Buy a Piece of Israel concept

February 26, 2014
Greetings from Jerusalem,
Permit me to introduce my good friend Rabbi Avrum Friedmann also of Jerusalem and also native of North America. I know Rabbi Friedmann for over 20 years, having met him at various simchas, in which he introduced himself to me as a native of Baltimore and a relative of the late Gaon Rav Michoel Forshlager ZTK"L. As a student in Ner Yisrael, I remember going to the Gaon's house, which was not so much a house, but rather a storehouse of sfarim. Rabbi Friedmann brought me a copy of the just released Biography of Rav Forshlager Michoel B'Achas, which is sitting on my desk as I write this.

The 'Buy a Piece of Israel®' project was established several years ago to help ensure that the Land of Israel will remain in Jewish hands for perpetuity. As anyone can see by looking at their website: http://www.buyapieceofisrael.com, and by reading the articles, there is concerted effort by Arabs, both those who are Israeli citizens and those who reside in Arab countries to grab lands, either by encroachment or by outright purchase. This project enables Jews, wherever they reside, to own a piece of Israel at a small cost. The benefits are manifold. In addition to helping to keep Israel in Jewish hands, the owner has the opportunity to fulfill the mitzvos that only apply to land in Eretz Yisrael. This not to mention the financial side, that land and real estate prices in Israel have seen a steady increase in value over the last thirty years.
I therefore call upon you to welcome Rabbi Friedmann into your homes and synagogues and to listen to his message and what he has to offer. This is something, which I believe will be good for you personally and for the Jewish people, both materially and spiritually. And may the Ribono shel Olam bless you with health, wealth and Nachas.

With love of Israel, Rabbi Sholom Gold

Dear Friend,
I have been informed, by sources known to me to be reliable, of the project "Buy a Piece of Israel®" directed by Mr. Yosef Busner. The project buys land in the Galilee, keeping it in Jewish hands and works it agriculturally by Jews fulfilling all the mitzvos incumbent on agricultural produce in Eretz Yisrael. By funding this project one fulfills the mitzva of "Yishuv Eretz Yisroel" according to many opinions and one must certainly fulfill the mitzva of tzedakah in providing livlihood for Jewish farmers.
I endorse this project and encourage people to become partners in this enterprise through their donations.
Sincerely with Torah blessing, Rabbi Zev Leff

To our Dear Brethren in the United States and Canada:
Shalom u'Vracha
'Buy a Piece of Israel®' was established in the last few years to enable Jews, wherever they reside, to own a piece of Eretz Hakodesh, Eretz Yisrael. As the Midrash says: "One who owns four cubits of Eretz Yisrael has a portion in the world to come". Additionally, in purchasing land here you are helping to ensure that the land will remain in Jewish hands for perpetuity.
My friendship with Rabbi Friedmann, who is one of the highly respected members of our community of Ramat Shlomo in Yerushalayim for almost twenty years. Furthermore, I know and respect his wife's family for over forty years.
I therefore call upon you to welcome Rabbi Friedmann and listen to his message and what he has to offer, because that could benefit you and the entire Jewish people both in a spiritual and material way. For participating in this great Mitzva may the Almighty shower upon you the blessings of health prosperity and Nachas.
With Torah blessings, I remain
Respectfully yours, (Rabbi) Gedaliah A. Rabinowitz

Understanding the meaning behind many of the biblical commandments, requires us to appreciate their agricultural context.
One of numerous examples is the cycle created by the three pilgrimage festivals. In addition to celebrating historical events, these festivals also mark agricultural seasonal changes. Indeed, the promised land of Israel is contrasted to Egypt in agricultural terms. Thus, agriculture has countless halachic, theological and liturgical expressions.
This is why I am delighted to halachically endorse the 'Buy a Piece of Israel' Galilee agriculture project. By joining this project, one can finally realize his or her dream (shared by our ancestors over generations) to own and nurture our sacred land, thereby observing many elementary commandments which are otherwise unattainable. I invite you to explore this opportunity, as my family and I recently did. Sincerely, Boruch M. Boudilovsky "Rabbi of Young Israel of North Netanya" Mashgiach Ruchani Midreshet Torat Chesed
